The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) is seeking a Digital Engagement Manager to craft and lead both social media and member email strategy, develop editorial calendars to attract and retain the Society's highly-engaged audience across its primary accounts (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram), and manage the day-to-day scheduling, creation and implementation of cross-channel campaigns. This position will work within the Digital Strategy team and will collaborate closely with members of the Meetings, Professional Development, Marketing and other programmatic teams at all career levels.

The ideal candidate will be excited to consult with internal clients on a variety of campaign needs, eager to innovate within a changing environment, and focused on using data to inform decisions around prioritization. They will also have strong editorial judgement, a keen eye for great content (including video and images), and a passion for creative incorporation of new and emerging platforms and trends within the digital space.  Read on to learn more!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Acting as an internal consultant to content creation teams, lead development of social media and email content, editorial calendars, and schedules that enhance user engagement on platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and email (via Hubspot).
  • Participate in contributing to the Society's digital strategy
  • Leads training and coaching for SfN digital content partners, including identifying, curating, or developing Hubspot and social media training materials and conducting training sessions on digital communications and best practices.
  • Develops and leads implementation of social media and email communications strategies, looking to increase website traffic or engagement with SfN's other digital content. Ensures appropriate targeting and keeps an eye on analytics, reporting results internally and collaborating on recommendations for improvement.
  • Develops and manages SfN's social and email calendars and collaborates with content creators to ensure campaign alignment across all platforms.
  • Leads development of social media and email content around SfN's annual meeting.
  • Identifies analytics needs for social media and email, and supervises the development and distribution of reporting to key stakeholders.
  • Supports in identifying need and evaluating and recommending new digital communications tools and software. Serve as point of contact as needed on implementation and use.
  • Monitors audience comments and responds appropriately, seeking input from stakeholders when needed.
  • Some after hours and / or weekend work required.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises the work of the Digital Engagement Associate I.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, media studies, digital strategy or related field required.
  • 3-5 years of experience with Digital Strategy, Social Media, and/or Email Strategy with at least one year as a people manager.
  • Solid understanding of the nuances of each social channel and how to best use them.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing, editing, planning, and developing content for various platforms including social media, digital newsletters, websites, and content marketing email.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passion for social media - especially for mission-driven organizations - and a keen eye for emerging trends and platforms in the digital space.
  • Expertise with social media platforms such as Sprout Social or Hootsuite.
  • Expertise with email platforms such as HubSpot or MailChimp. Preference given to Hubspot experience, and Hubspot Academy certification strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of, and experience working with, HTML and CSS.
  • Experience leading social media analytics.
  • Experience with web analytics.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills.
  • Flexibility, adaptability and curiosity.
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally in a team environment and remain responsible and accountable for results.
  • Agency experience strongly preferred.
