SUMMARY

The Digital Strategy Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of content creation, production and lifecycle for SfN.org and Neuronline, the Society's two primary member-facing web touchpoints, as well as for content marketing and audience analysis for both sites. This position involves close collaboration with stakeholders across the organization, as well as with volunteer leaders and external vendors/partners. It also has primary responsibility for identifying market trends in peer sites and CMS feature needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Website Management

  • Maintain day-to-day ownership of the editorial strategy and web production pipeline for both sfn.org and Neuronline.
  • Lead Neuronline and sfn.org content creation and production processes.
  • Work closely with the Digital Learning Media team to identify and implement site needs for Webinars, Virtual Conferences / Events, and to help position and promote the use of the Neuronline Community message boards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders from training, professional development, advocacy and other areas to develop content ideas in support of organizational priorities.

Content Marketing

  • Identify and target key audiences for sfn.org and Neuronline and growth and development opportunities within each.
  • Define measurable goals for each audience, develop cross-platform plans to reach and engage existing and potential users, and work with Web Producers, Digital Engagement Manager and internal stakeholder groups to implement.

Cross-cutting Digital Strategy Initiatives

  • Own the web portion of the editorial calendar, and coordinate / collaborate with the Digital Engagement Manager and the Marketing team for development of social media and email calendars.
  • Maintain a digital style guide and digital best practices manual for the organization, and design & lead periodic brown bags and training sessions for staff to disseminate knowledge across stakeholder groups.
  • Define, track, analyze and report on web metrics and analytics, and coordinate / collaborate with the Digital Engagement Manager on social and email analytics, to understand reach and engagement for assigned sites & content.
  • Identify website and market trends, and act as a primary stakeholder in site improvement projects.
  • In partnership with the Product Management Specialist, use the Society's suite of user insight and testing tools to design and implement a comprehensive testing program to drive user-centered, data-informed changes to sites.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the multi-person member-facing web experience team to ensure proper resourcing, cross-promotion and content integration between SfN.org and Neuronline, and content strategy / content development for both sites.
  • Directly manage employees, and provide development and growth opportunities
  • Interface with committee members and other volunteer leaders.
  • Influence stakeholders and partners across functions and disciplines throughout the organization.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, interactive media, digital storytelling or related field(s)
  • 5-7 years experience developing and implementing digital strategies in positions of increasing responsibility
  • 1 year + supervisory and/or team lead experience
  • Experience leading cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams and building coalitions to affect change
  • Demonstrated proficiency with content management systems (SiteCore preferred), web analytics platforms (Google Analytics preferred) and solid understanding of social and email metrics
  • Knowledge of responsive design principles, web accessibility & SEO best-practices, and the product development lifecycle
  • Excellent communication skills
