SUMMARY: The Advertising and Sales Manager serves as an active member of the Marketing (MK) team, contributing to the development and implementation of a comprehensive organization-wide advertising and sales strategy and plan. The manager is responsible for executing a coordinated sales strategy and carrying out the day-to-day advertising and sales-related activities for SfN services and products, in close coordination with other departments. The manager will use data to inform strategy and drive sales.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Draft and implement advertising & sales plans for Journal of Neuroscience/eNeuro (subscriptions and ad sales) and the annual meeting (onsite advertising) registration.
  • Manage all advertising and sales functions within the marketing department, including related budgetary functions and invoicing within the AMS.
  • Manage contacts and prospects within the AMS.
  • Actively engage with contacts to develop long term sales relationships.
  • Oversee all list rental sales (membership and meeting lists) including vendor management.
  • Manage along with Senior Manager, trade and barter relationships and strive to increase the number of relationships.
  • Sell annual meeting advertising/sponsorship opportunities and journal ads.
  • Draft and review emails, online ads and print materials associated with sales and advertising.
  • Manage and oversee the placement of online ads on the two Journal websites.
  • Review and make recommendations for new products and price changes/adjustments for sales products based on market competition and demand.
  • Coordinate/oversee advertising & sales print materials including the media kit/annual meeting sales opportunities.
  • Assist with oversight and management of SfN's exhibit booth at scientific conferences and meetings.
  • Assists with organization's product sales, including coordinating inventory, making updates to online store, ensuring proper order fulfillment, researching, and responding to customer claims, and assisting in coordinating logistics for onsite store at organization's annual meeting.
  • Manage weekly reports for sales campaigns and activities including sales and online ad performance.
  • Utilize and analyze sales and advertising data for decision making and strategy development for sales and advertising.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree; preferably in marketing, business, communications or other related field
  • A minimum of three years' experience in marketing/sales required, with a successful track record of increasing sales and managing projects and campaigns. Non-profit/membership association experience is strongly preferred.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, the incumbent should have knowledge of MS Office, CMS's, CRM's/AMS's including Personify, SharePoint, HubSpot, Online Ad Platform Systems, and Google Analytics.
