The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) is searching for a Digital Assistant who provides content management system (CMS) and web support for Neuronline, SfN's members-only website that provides year-round professional development, scientific research, and training content. The Assistant will be part of a highly collaborative, fast-paced, and innovative team that helps to provide member value by producing content that spotlights diverse research, initiatives, and conversations occurring across the neuroscience field. This role is ideal for a candidate who is interested in working closely with a website CMS and an editorial calendar, as well as supporting other digital activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Creates entries in the editorial calendar in SharePoint
  • Handles all facets of the content management system (CMS) entry process, including:
    • Uploading all necessary parts for each article, including body text, photos, and/or videos
    • Filling in all backend information, such as meta data and preview text
    • Tagging all content with the proper taxonomy
  • Handles all facets of the publishing process, including:
    • Publishing all articles when they are scheduled in the editorial calendar
    • Adding URLs to the editorial calendar for reporting purposes
    • Communicating with Neuronline and other staff about published content
  • Maintains the visual appearance of the front-end of Neuronline
  • Carries out Neuronline content reporting for SfN staff and volunteer committees, using Google Analytics, the Neuronline editorial calendar, and other tools
  • Handles ad hoc administrative and copyediting requests

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or other related field required.
  • 1-2 years of experience with a minimum of one year of professional experience in areas relevant to the position
  • Working knowledge of CMS interfaces and aptitude and interest in learning how to use Sitecore, SfN's CMS
  • Working knowledge of and experience with HTML

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with photo editing software, such as Photoshop
  • Basic knowledge of Google Analytics and SharePoint
  • Good text editing skills, including an ability to master organizational style guides
  • A strong eye for detail to ensure that content is entered correctly to the CMS to ensure that website visitors see accurate, fresh, and visually appealing content
  • Strong and proactive organizational and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate a diverse set of activities on established, tight, and often competing timelines and keep relevant stakeholders informed at the appropriate stages to ensure seamless knowledge-sharing and collaboration
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills to work with SfN staff across departments and potentially external stakeholders
  • Effective oral, written, and business communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to practice sound judgment and problem solve issues when they arise
  • Ability to work within a highly collaborative team environment while also knowing how and
  • when to take initiative
