The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) is searching for a HR Coordinator who wants to pursue a career in Human Resources and join a progressive and people-centric HR & Talent Management team. The Coordinator will assist in a wide variety of human resource functions that will include, but are not limited to, employment, wage and salary administration, maintaining benefits and employment records, supporting the recruiting function, and conducting orientation programs. This is an ideal opportunity to take the next step in developing your HR operational skills, while learning about and contributing to full-life cycle talent acquisition and talent management.    

The Job:

  • Records employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, and termination date and reason.
  • Administers benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, retirement plans, and employee assistance.
  • Performs initial applicant screenings and assists in other employment activities.
  • Prepares new hire correspondence and orientation information.
  • Updates employee files to document employment actions and to provide information for payroll and other uses.
  • Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized persons.
  • Compiles data from employment records and prepares reports.
  • Administers psychometric and other pre-employment tests.
  • Compiles and maintains records for use in employee benefits administration.
  • Coordinates, and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation.
  • Track and ensure that annual and introductory performance reviews are done timely and accurately.
  • Support Office Management & Facility function and assist with receptionist duties.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or other relevant field required.
  • Two (2) years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven track record of providing high level of customer service

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Empathetic and approachable listener with excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Knowledge and exposure to employment law and HR operational areas, i.e. HRIS management benefits administration.
  • The ability to produce error-free work based on established standards and procedures on a consistent basis and under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities in a flexible manner to address changing needs.
  • A high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic experience with applicant tracking systems is desired.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
