The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) is searching for a Professional Development Assistant that will support the day-to-day operations of the department's professional development portfolio, which include two grant funded programs, the Latin American Training Program and the Neuroscience Scholars Program. The candidate should have an interest in working with diverse populations within the US and abroad. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a year of professional experience who is looking to build their career in a nonprofit and really make it their own.

The Job:

  • Contributes to meeting and event planning throughout the year.
  • Supports online education and community building by administering webinars and monitoring discussion forums.
  • Coordinates with finance department to disburse travel funds and process reimbursements
  • Provides quality customer service in administrative tasks to include answering telephone and e-mail inquiries, arranging travel, and other activities.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Excel to track participant activities and create tables and graphs.
  • Support advisory board and subcommittee work through taking meeting minutes and corresponding with leaders.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or a related field required.
  • One year of experience in a professional setting.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and an aptitude to learn new programs.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Has an interest in learning new information.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Interest in the mission of the organization
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities in a flexible manner to address changing needs.
