The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) is searching for a Multimedia Manager who will play a leading role in working with various departments at SfN to ensure multimedia projects (video, audio, and podcasts, among others) are being addressed and completed on time, weighing in on strategy and workflow, and ensuring proper documentation and processes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manages the planning and implementation of SfN's multimedia programming across the organization, including video, audio, and podcast formats.
  • Manages multimedia project workflow in close collaboration with the Multimedia Associate, identifying opportunities for outsourcing.
  • Maintains knowledge of new trends in content and technology pertaining to motion graphics and video production; provides direction and feedback on opportunities to innovate within SfN's multimedia program. Ensures the success of innovation by facilitating new processes.
  • In collaboration with the Multimedia Associate, manages capture of video and audio, working closely with internal stakeholders and vendors. Oversees dozens of filming opportunities each year and helps determine project focus and direction.
  • Assist with vendor management. Identifying opportunities for project insourcing versus outsourcing and identifying best outsourcing partners.
  • Helps identify new multimedia outsourcing vendors.
  • Oversees multimedia workflow requests.
  • Provide support for the Multimedia Associate, including project prioritization.
  • Provides technical editing leadership for filming and audio.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the organization on new initiatives such as podcasting.
  • Provides technical support for new initiatives, including podcasting.


Supervisory Experience:

  • Supervises the Multimedia Associate
  • Delegates effectively, communicates expectations clearly, and provides professional development opportunities.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Preferably in media & communications, film and electronic arts or liberal arts.
  • A minimum of 4 years of related professional experience required.
  • 1 year of supervisory or team lead experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong project management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Strong competency for post-production workflows.
  • Proficient in post-production workflows, video and audio editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Logic and ProTools, media encoding, various codecs and file exporting.
  • Hands on experience with on-set production and audio production.
  • Experience with YouTube or other multimedia analytics and data sets.
  • Experience with podcasting programs.
  • Ability to build bridges amongst departments.
  • Ability to use good judgement and to be diplomatic with sensitive situations.
