The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) is searching for a Multimedia Associate that will support the Multimedia Manager and Specialist in working with various departments at SfN to ensure multimedia projects (video, audio, and podcasts, among others) are being addressed and completed on time. The Associate will contribute heavily to post-production workflow, media management and archiving, and ensuring proper documentation and processes. This Associate role is ideal for someone who has a strong interest in multimedia production and who would like to be a part of a fast paced and dynamic team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • In collaboration with the Multimedia Manager and Multimedia Specialist, help execute SfN's multimedia programming across the organization, including video, audio, and podcast formats.
  • Assist primarily in post-production workflow: ingesting, logging, organizing, and archiving multimedia assets.
  • Assist in technical editing for filming and audio.
  • Work with and/or help create basic motion graphics and animation.
  • Assist in basic color grading/correction and audio mixing.
  • Determine and insure proper media formatting: adhere to visual style guidelines and branding, provide captioning, and deliver multimedia assets in accordance with the desired format (i.e. tech specs, codecs, file types, etc.).
  • With the Multimedia Manager and Specialist, help manage capture of video and audio, working closely with internal stakeholders and vendors. Contribute to dozens of filming opportunities each year, including (but not limited to) the SfN Annual Meeting, in-office and off-site media events, virtual conferences, and training series.
  • Help manage transcription services and voice-over/narration talent services.
  • Assist in the organization and management of SfN's web-video accounts (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.)
  • Respond to multimedia workflow requests; provide content and technical support to media events; troubleshoot technical issues with post-production systems and equipment.
  • Coordinate with external vendors on outsourced projects: organize outgoing media needs and incoming media deliverables.
  • Identify and address additional media management needs (i.e. more storage equipment, software, etc.).
  • Assist with the Digital Learning & Multimedia department's budget, contracts, and ORs.
  • Adhere to and update content management systems, production calendars, shared drive folders, and project-tracking databases with relevant media event information.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Degrees in Media & Communications or Film & Electronic Arts preferred.
  • 2 years of relevant experience.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong competency for post-production workflows.
  • Proficient in post-production workflows, video and audio editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Logic and Pro Tools, media management & archiving, media encoding, various codecs and file exporting.
  • Experience with web-based media platforms like YouTube, Vimeo, SmugMug, SoundCloud, etc.
  • Familiarity with web-based video collaboration platforms like Wipster and Frame.io.
  • Hands on experience with on-set production and audio production.
  • Interest in instructional design and technology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build bridges amongst departments.
  • Ability to use good judgement and to be diplomatic with sensitive situations.
